Jill Corkin MNZM, BA, Dip Tchg
Jill’s background is in education and is she currently Chair of the Mangawhai Education Trust which has recently built and opened an independent Year 7–13 school in Mangawhai, Northland. Jill retired as foundation principal of Snells Beach Primary School at the end of 2015 to support the running of the family business.
Jill’s career spans forty plus years in education as a teacher, education consultant, board chair, statutory manager for the Ministry of Education, and principal of three primary schools in Auckland. During that time, she also served as President of the Howick/Pakuranga Principals’ Association, President of the Auckland Primary Principals’ Association and held positions on several national Ministerial Taskforces and Advisory Groups. In the New Year’s Honours List 2017, Jill was honoured with the award of Member of the NZ Order of Merit (MNZM) for her services to education.
Jill has been the national conference convenor for the New Zealand Principals Federation conferences since 2016, including leading the conference committees for two Trans-Tasman conferences. She has worked closely with The Conference Company throughout this time and brings a strong knowledge of conference organisation to the table. She is a Distinguished Fellow of the Auckland Primary Principals’ Association and was awarded a Service with Distinction Award by NZPF in 2022.
